On July 3 and 4 the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad will sell excursion tickets to and from all stations within 200 miles at one fare round trip. Tickets valid for return until July 5, 1895. For information contact any B&O agent or L S Allen assistant general passenger agent Chicago Illinois.
On Saturday June 59th the furniture and household goods of the late Mrs Mary Moon will be sold to the highest bidder for cash on the premises. Sale begins at 2 p.m. Azariah Williams conducts the sale.
The June 17 crop bulletin reports warm dry weather with uneven rains across counties. Corn, wheat, oats, and hay show varying yields with drought stress. farmers report scarce water for stock and decreasing pasture. Separately James F. Falley asks the Superior Court for a 5 percent allowance on his total receipts and disbursements as receiver of the supreme governing order.
In Greensburg area Frank Doggett, now over W years old, lives secluded on Clifty banks. A horse crash killed his bride on the way to a minister's home, after which he never spoke publicly or shaved, tending twenty acres, relying on goats for milk, and visiting town only for elections or taxes.
Indianapolis June 19 The Bank of Commerce assigned with assets of 180 373 mostly in paper expected to realize later The assignee is Andrew I McIntosh brother in law of New land IT and Charles W De Pauw Directors say depositors are protected by a deposit in the Indianapolis National Bank last week and will lose nothing.
In Anderson on June 19 five leaders of the Scatterfield gang are jailed awaiting trial while local outrages continue. David Stinson owns a 530 stallion whose tail was shaved to the bone, rendering the horse valueless for markets. Stinson's son Bill is charged as gang leader.
Reports state ex President Harrison was paid 16000 dollars for services in the Morrison will dispute. The total lawyers fees amount to 74000 dollars, with the attorneys in the case receiving 90000 dollars, about one sixth of the estate involved.
Elwoop June 19. Lawyer J. C. Dean was arrested in this city by a deputy United States marshal on orders from Oklahoma City. Fourteen indictments hang over Dean for suborning perjury connected to government land deals in Oklahoma.
Franklin June 19 Bluff Creek a small country town off the railroad has been almost entirely destroyed by fire. Fourteen buildings including three general stores with their contents were consumed. The loss is heavy with one half insured.
June 19 report from Moorgs Hill states James Ross, linked to Hartford hamilt area, has died. The notice notes his long association with the local community and its impact on residents.
The obituary notes Aquilla Robertson of Deputy held the distinction for years until his death about a month ago. After Robertson’s passing the honor passed to Ross, who was born near the place where he died at age 93.
Colonel Zaigler, an elderly Grand Army man, has been driven insane and is taken to a private sanitarium in Indianapolis. Long a inventor, he created several patents bearing his name and spent years on a paper cutting machine before his mind gave way.
Judge Ellison overruled a motion for a new trial for George Hires who was found guilty of murdering William Foust in Elwood and sentenced to thirteen years. He will remain as a witness in the related case against George and Ephraim Crull George Cox and Mrs. Margaret Bolton charged as accessories.
Indianapolis saw Dan McLeod defeat Charles Wittmer in a mixed style match. Wittmer won the Granso-Roman bout as expected. McLeod chose catch as catch can and won the final falls in two quick sessions, with the last two bouts lasting 73 1/4 and 6 1/4 minutes respectively.
WaBASH June 19 The township assessors report a statewide land value drop from 8,413,750 in 1889 to 7,567,835 outside Wabash city and North Manchester. Overall land and improvements decline by nearly 1,000,000.
The case in Muncie on pollution of Lick Creek by Utility Paper of Hartford awarded Addison Adkinson $300 in damages from a $100,000 claim. If the verdict stands in supreme court, about fifty more suits may be filed against the companies.
An unknown person drained half the water from the engine boiler at the new Masonic Temple in Anderson on June 19 and then ignited the natural gas used for heating. The quick discovery prevented a boiler explosion and likely shows malicious intent.
Jeffersonville reports James C. Lavelle former auditor of Daviess county is dying in prison from heart disease and dropsy after eight years for hiring three men to burn the courthouse and destroy official records.
Four miles north of here a forty acre clover field owned by Perry Summerville was burned. Fifty men worked to prevent spread and additional property loss.

The Illinois governor orders an extra session for June 26 at 3 p m urging revenue boosts to cover appropriations reform of police courts abolition of the state board of equalization and a perfect tax system. He also seeks court reform labor arbitration child labor restrictions jail labor separation and Pullman sleeping car price controls. The aim is unbiased grand juries libel law revision and convicts kept at work without competing with free labor. Speaker Meyer calls the move unwelcome.
Vanderbilt commencement featured Dr Chauncey M Depew praising citizen participation in caucuses and primaries as the cure for rings and bosses. He warned that neglect of local party work leads to machine rule and political despots, urging educated professionals to engage in primary processes.
Congressman Sibley of Pennsylvania arrived in Topeka for a silver conference called by A. G. Shinnon of the Bimetallic League. He predicted two parties in 1896 the Producers who back silver and the Absorbers who back the gold standard. The meeting opened with many in attendance including Populists and some Democrats, while Republicans were largely absent. Ex‑Governor Glick and Frank Webster were noted among the Democrats present.
A Baltimore dispatch notes letters from southern editors on the silver question. It lists papers opposed to free silver including the Charlotte Observer and Houston Post among others, and papers supporting free coinage such as the Raleigh News and Observer.
Arrangements are complete for a joint debate in Mobile Alabama on July first between William Jennings Bryan of Nebraska and Richard H Clark of Alabama focusing on the silver question.
At City Temple London the British Woman's Temperance association heard Miss Florence Balgarnis accuse Miss Willard of being an apologist for southern lynchings. The American Woman's Christian Temperance Union was exonerated as Miss Willard defended the union and asserted human life must not be taken without due process. Lady Henry Somerset was re elected president of the British Women’s Temperance association.
At Ascot’s opening day on June 19 the Prince of Wales rode Persimmon to win the Coventry Stakes and Florizel II to win the Ascot Gold Vase. All American horses were scratched, disappointing the U S visitors.
Secretary Hoke Smith says he will restore Miss Key, granddaughter of the Star Spangled Banner author, to her position in the pension office once the next year’s appropriation is available. The pledge comes from the interior department head at Washington.
