Memorial Sunday in Laporte County featured a large uniformed procession by the G A R Women’s Relief Corps Sons of Veterans Daughters of the Republic Independent Order of Odd Fellows and Knights of Pythias. Westville observes Memorial Day with COL Mark L. DeMotte of Valparaiso addressing a large concourse. Civilians and veterans in regalia honor fallen soldiers, march to M R E church, and proceed to the cemetery for services and grave decorations with bands, choirs, and patriotic readings.

The Westville W C T U held a large program at the Christian Church on Sunday evening. Mrs E T Hays presided, reading the program and opening remarks. The event featured songs, recitations, papers on Prohibition and Patriotism, and a mass quartet. Several new names were added to the society list as members canvassed the audience for joiners.
