Governor Samuel M. Ralston submits the annual message urging economy in printing and staffing for the General Assembly, calls for lobbyist registration, outlines state finances, debt, and tax policy, and proposes a nonpolitical centennial commission as Indiana prepares for its 100th anniversary celebration.
Representatives of county fair associations in Indiana met at the statehouse to elect eight new members to the state board of agriculture for its sixty third annual session. Charles Downing was retained as secretary as ouster attempts failed. John Isenbarger was re elected president of the fair association. C. S. Smith secretary and Charles H. Anthony treasurer. The board reported income of 114 220.14 for the year, with 90 480.48 from the Indiana state fair and total disbursements of 113 422.50. Various district members were chosen, including Harry Moberly as Third district representative. The meeting also discussed a proposed county aid bill for fairs and remonstrances against such fairs.
President Wilson stood in line for an hour in Indianapolis greeting 2 500 attendees at a reception after a call on Mayor Bell. Senator Kern Governor Ralston and club president Dick Miller were in the line, surrounded by secret service and police. Doors stayed closed to the public for 29 minutes.
Amos W. Butler, secretary of the state board of charities, addressed the Charity Organization Society meeting in Indianapolis on cooperation between public and private charities. He praised Indiana laws for aiding the poor and urged private groups to handle relief when possible, noting heavy December activity with 461 cases investigated and substantial aid in groceries coal and clothing.

Rear Admiral Robert E Peary chair man of the aeronautical map committee of the Aero Club of America has submitted a plan to establish landing stations for aeroplanes across the United States. He and Edwin Gould offer lands for Georgia and Maine to host stations. Governors have accepted and instructed Peary to accept further offers. Peary lands lie east of Portland Maine Gould land lies opposite Jekyl Island Georgia.
Dorothy Bentley the dancer and her husband Carlos Sebastian are promoting a long vaudeville tour. Friends teased the newlyweds about married life, noting the actor’s bond and Bentley’s light remarks on matrimony.
A Navy torpedo test near New Port Rel under Commander John K. Robinson reportedly caused a net to explode, raising questions about the device’s security and the test’s control. Officials indicated the incident may prompt further protest and review of the torpedo net’s reliability.
