Great Chattanooga Fire Destroys Twenty Three Buildings

A devastating blaze in Chattanooga Tennessee on Saturday destroyed twenty three business buildings on Market Street. D B Loveman Co’s dry goods house led the flames with a rapid spread aided by a strong wind. Losses include Fort and Morgan Christie and Co and others totaling about 600000 with insurance around 550000. Two women leaped from upper windows, one severely but not fatally hurt and the other seriously injured.
