Julia Rogers was arrested Saturday night for keeping a house of ill fame. A young man found there pleaded guilty with her before Justice Louderback. The man was fined ten dollars and costs. Valparaiso Vidette reports the case.

Firemen faced falling walls and high winds with two rescuers injured but no fatalities reported. Insurance claims top $210000 as authorities review a disputed state salary bill tied to the case.
A man near Stileville, Lewis Asher, was brought in by the sheriff after skipping a grand jury subpoena in the Hinshaw murder case. He claims to have seen two men near the Belleville parsonage on the night of Jan 10 and heard shots, but will not reveal identities. The court will hear him, while the grand jury pursues a full investigation. James Q C Parker remains hopeful the evidence may clear the preacher.

Shelbyville cabinet firm announces assignment with liabilities around 5000 and assets near 50000. Once capitalized at 6000 seven years ago, it was a leading western plant. the asset sale will proceed to liquidate the business.
Louis H. Legler the auditor of Van derburg county has brought before the county commissioners a bill challenging the fee and salary law passed by the last legislature. The action aims to test the law and its applications in the county administration.
In Lagrange on December 4 a remonstrance against renewing licenses for three saloonkeepers was signed by a majority of voters. The remonstrance was to be reviewed by the commissioners court under the Nicholson law, but attorneys for the liquor dealers erased about forty signatures, allowing the saloonkeepers to retain their licenses.
In Muncie a player from the Muncie Unions, James Beardsmore, was injured in the Thanksgiving game against Indianapolis Caledonian. he finished the match, then died from internal injuries after four ribs were broken. Also reported is the Indiana Ohio Michigan conference on presiding elders meeting in Indianapolis and John W. Pittenger in Muncie who shot himself twice but survived.
Anderson December 4 Mrs Colby Luther who succeeded to the presidency of the Indiana spiritualists after President Westerfield death three months ago is now stricken with paralysis and in critical condition.
MARION December 4 The jury in the State versus John N Hart for embezzling 4800 from Armour and Company rendered a verdict of not guilty.
Chicago reports three quarters of a million dollars stolen from the Democratic campaign fund for 1893 1894 and 1893 spring. M Mcdonald and Alderman John Powers level the charge. County central committee chairman Thomas Gahan supports the claim that funds for the past two years are unaccounted for.
Cedar Rapids Iowa records a thermometer reading seven degrees below zero yesterday morning marking the coldest start to winter this season. North of the city temperatures were milder.
