Two Convicts Escape From Michigan City Prison

William Lyons and Everett Van Auken, convicts, escaped from Michigan City prison Friday night between 7:30 and 8:00. They climbed the north wall with a five foot pipe and a rope, after guards found them missing half an hour later. Lyons, previously jailed in 1882 and 1900, and Van Auken, on his first sentence, faced two to fourteen years. His wife accompanied him to the institution.
