Rev. A. G. Haley, Methodist pastor of the St. Louis Crossing Clifford Taylorsville circuit, forms a young men baseball team. He will pitch and aims to keep play out of Sundays. Haley, once with Evansville in the Tri State league, ties athletic training to moral improvement and urges Sunday school youth to participate.
Fire caused about 3000 dollars of damage to a one story poolroom and adjacent structures in Kewanna. The blaze started from a gasoline tank explosion used for lighting in R P Hickle’s poolroom. The bucket brigade halted the fire before Logansport could respond. insurance largely covered the poolroom owned by Mr Tickle.
Clarence McComb a street fair acrobat serving six months for larceny escaped from a rotary jail at night. He used a steel rail to break a weakened bar after loosening from a prior jail delivery. Fellow prisoners deny involvement. McComb toured with a street carnival as a trapeze performer and resided in Indianapolis.
Horace Richardson, long time Bedford grocer now retired, received a letter from an unknown writer claiming past theft of apples from his store. The note includes 25 cents in stamps to repay losses and vows eventual revelation in heaven.
Boonville Milling and Kat terjohn & Helmbeck Milling combine to form Indiana Mills & Elevator company and convert the old city flouring mills into a 60 000 bushel elevator. The Boonville Elevator will purchase wheat corn hay and other grains on a large scale to service Warrick county.
Knightstown student Charles Hires, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Hires, Rush County, completes another term with no absences or tardies. This marks six consecutive years of perfect attendance in school with no recorded absence or tardiness.
Hammond John Nagel of Standard Steel Car Works escaped death after tumbling from the top of a 175 foot chimney and turning a full somersault. He caught the scaffolding around the stack and hung by his hands until rescued.
Joseph W. Morrow of Charlestown has been notified by Washington as postmaster designate to succeed Charles Schalk. Morrow’s backing came from the Hemenway organization in the county led by Newton H. Blyers, with former State Senator Hancock supporting Arthur Mayer. Hancock resigned from the late senate because he believed.

The Ladies Aid of First Christian Church led by Rev. Marion H. Garrard will raise funds by distributing a mile of one foot strips. Each strip carries the plan on one side and has spaces for sixteen pennies on the other, coated with adhesive. When a mile of pennies is collected, $844.88 will be raised to pay the church debt.

North Vernon jury found Elijah Covert guilty of manslaughter for the death of Charles Tharpe in Scipio after a dispute over a fence on Covert's property. The 60 year old defendant pleaded self defense and had a previously good reputation. The judge refused the first verdict and sent the jurors back to correct the form. The punishment was fixed at 21 years' imprisonment.
Mrs. Joseph Kerton wife of a farmer was instantly killed on the Indianapolis & Eastern traction line near Straughan as she walked toward a rural mailbox. Deaf and unable to hear the motorman quarrel signals, she was struck and the body hurled some distance. She had recently moved to the county from Illinois.
Bloomington reports spring term enrollment at Indiana University near 1000 with a clear rise from last year. By week’s end the total should surpass 1,200, pushing the yearly attendance above 1,800 students.
