Evaluation of conference type school reports proposed
The PTA Council will study replacing traditional report cards with conference based reporting in elementary schools. Superintendent Rast supports an open minded review after five years of use in Greens Farms and Bedford. The study plans to interview teachers parents and children and begin preliminary work this summer for a fall start, with volunteers.

Westport First Selectman W. Clarke Crossman ordered all garbage trucks to remain covered during transfers or face arrest and possible license revocation. He warned the drivers broadly to curb careless dumping as odor disputes around the town dump near the State Street bridge linger.

The Yankee Doodle Fair at the Woman’s Club grounds on Imperial Avenue on July 1 2 and 3 features chicken Thursday spaghetti Friday and roast beef Saturday. The St Anthony Society led by Mrs Emilio Di Cicco runs the spaghetti menu for the first time. Mrs Peter Vetromile and Mrs Stephen Farkas handle chicken and roast beef. Tickets are sold ahead at the clubhouse and an organ will be installed for the event with Baldwin organ loaned by Mettler Piano Co.
