Protest march seeks more police near Compo Beach
About 20 neighbors marched into the Representative Town Meeting in Bedford Junior High School to demand greater police protection around Compo Beach. They cited rising misbehavior by youths and urged all night patrols to curb vandalism, drinking by minors, and arson. The group, led by Merritt Jacob, handed placards reading Save Compo Beach and Must the beach die before leaving after about 15 minutes.
