Six towns in the Bridgeport region including Westport agree to establish a solid waste disposal facility under a statewide plan with General Electric. Bridgeport Westport Fairfield Stratford Trumbull and Monore signed a letter of intent to participate with the Department of Environmental Protection and the Connecticut Resource Recovery Authority in planning a demonstration resource recovery facility.

RTM Grants Two Budget Refunds In Bedford Budget Session
The Representative Town Meeting plans a final 7 30 pm vote at Bedford Junior High School on tonight’s budget session covering education and town departments. Earlier, a restoration of about eighteen thousand dollars to five point eight seven million five hundred twenty one thousand was approved. The committee skirted the issue of an administrative assistant for First Selectman Marion Cardell, proposing a nine thousand dollar salary and a future job description. First Selectman Kemish plans to push for an aide at the June RTM meeting.
