School Board Cuts Budget By Two Hundred Sixty Eight Thousand
The Bedford Board of Education unanimously backed an 11 031 172 budget for 1972 73 after over 70 hours of review. They trimmed 267 714 from the superintendent's 11 3 million proposal, including 159 240 in equipment and services. Two late compromises shaved 68 747 in admin salaries and 40 000 in across the board cuts.

Westport Merchants push plan to ease downtown traffic
The Downtown Merchants Association urges Selectman John Kemish and the Planning and Zoning Commission to adopt a plan for 200 new downtown parking spaces a new access road and improved traffic pattern. Henry Klein says the plan has strong support from the Planning Office the First Selectman’s Office the Police Department and the Chamber of Commerce though Powers and the Commission shelved it to wait for a Town Plan update.
