About 500 residents from across Saugatuck packed Bedford Junior High School to oppose a high level replacement for Bridge Street bridge. Baron and Langendorf joined Ferguson in urging the crowd as a progress study by Newman Argraves and Associates highlighted the proposed span as an option.

Board slashes bids and stalls fees at Town Finance meeting

Health District seeks eight percent budget hike for 72 73
The Aspetuck Valley Health District board approved a proposed eight per cent budget increase to 316 821 for the coming fiscal year. Westport would pay 189 809 up 10 7 percent while Weston would contribute 53 526 up 12 5 percent. Director William Spring's salary would rise 5 5 percent to 28 769. No new programs or staff are planned and there would be no surplus.
