Westport moves to evict Showboat from Longshore Clubhouse
The Town of Westport has begun eviction steps against Showboat Enterprises Inc the lessee of the Longshore Clubhouse after discovering the Greenwich based firm closed the restaurant bar and ballroom though the hotel remains open Attorney Emanuel Margolis filed for dissolution of a temporary injunction blocking eviction since September 1974 in Stamford Superior Court The longrunning dispute began in June 1974 with Showboat suing for damages claiming Town breach while the Town countersued for damages and eviction Showboat allegedly failed to pay escrow rents prompting a show cause request for a receiver and further action by First Selectman Jacqueline Penneage noting ongoing negotiations with Showboat’s Leo Nevas Continued on page 4

Rotondo confirmation fails as Stamford reviews appointment
Stamford Board of Representatives voted 20 to 18 against confirming Vincent Rotondo as Public Works Commissioner, failing to meet the two thirds required. The board waived residency rules prior to the vote, and Rotondo said he would remain in post while awaiting the February meeting outcome.

Westport Board OKs seven year capital forecast
The Westport Board of Education approves a modified 12 million capital forecast for 10 schools and the Town School office. Police accept 6 per cent pay increases
Westport Police Association members voted to accept the town’s last contract offer a two year deal with a 6 percent salary raise each year. The pact ends a dispute that included picketing and an outside fact finder whose non binding recommendation favored the town. Forty WPA members approved the offer eight opposed six abstained the measure proceeds to the Representative Town Meeting for approval on February 3.
