GRAFT RAIDS SPREAD ACROSS MULTIPLE CITIES DURING WAR

Washington report details a nationwide conspiracy between manufacturers and agents to solic it war orders with illegal commissions. Americans Repel German Raid At Xivray France

About 600 German shock troops attacked the American first line in Xivray Toul sector at 3 am. The assault was met with heavy fire. those entering Xivray were driven back and the rest repulsed after a two hour fight. Germans left nine dead and six captured, including two officers. No Americans were missing.

Army to Reach 3,000,000 under arms by August

Provost Marshal General Crowder told the Senate military committee that three million Americans will be under arms by next August. He urged extending draft age limits if current call rates continue, with 2425,000 already in service and projected additions from June registrations and reclassifications.

O Leary Captured Near Portland by Secret Service

Jeremiah O Leary a New York lawyer and leader of the American Truth society was arrested on a farm near Sara Wash about two miles north of Portland as a fugitive from justice. Secret service with farmer and local authorities aided the capture amid allegations of German financing.
