Bank Directors Surprise Officer Dinner Honors Dr. Harvey

Westfield’s National Bank of Westfield held a surprise dinner at Beho Lake Country Club for Dr. T. R. Harvey as thanks for building the bank’s position. Arraignments After Camden Motor Vehicle Raid

Forty seven individuals appeared before Commissioner William L. Dill in Camden charged with violations of the state motor vehicle law. The crackdown targeted drivers persisting in dazzling headlights, with Dill stating further raids will continue in other towns and cities to enforce compliance.

Constitution Day Observances Mark 184th Anniversary

The Constitutional League of America, a nonpartisan group, calls for nationwide observances next Saturday to celebrate the 184th anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Constitution. President Harding serves on its national committee. 42 states’ governors participate. many cities plan pageants. Organizations involved include the Sons of the American Revolution, AFL, American Legion, General Federation of Women’s Clubs, Chamber of Commerce, Y M C A, Eastern Star, Daughters of the American Revolution, Jewish Welfare Board, National Security League, Federal Council of Churches, and Masons Grand Lodge of New York.

Cooperation theme marks First M E Church Brotherhood meeting

The Brotherhood of the First M. E. Church held its first fall and winter meeting in the church chapel room with strong attendance. Rev. G. W. Smith spoke briefly, bylaws committee final report passed, and R. C. Webster oversaw an evening program of vocal and violin solos, community singing, and refreshments.

Building and Loan League organized in Union County

Representatives from twenty four Building and Loan Associations met in Elizabeth to form a Union County League. John K. English was elected president with George Compton as secretary. Committees on constitution revision by laws and membership were named to organize the league and prepare for a September 22 meeting.
