Public Hearing on Zoning Plan for Industrial Area

The Town Council committee will hold a public hearing Friday at 8 pm at the J B Irving Estate on a petition by the Irving Welch and Pierson Estates to amend the zoning ordinance to place North Avenue East in the industrial zone. The petition contends the area backing the railroad is unsuitable for residences and suitable for an industrial plant.

Westfield Armistice Day Parade Set With Many Entries

A grand Armistice Day night parade in Westfield plans hundreds of costumed marchers, flaming torches and a large float division. Local fraternal groups and American Legion posts are invited to participate, with a “Flivver” division and decorated vehicles welcomed. The day also features afternoon entertainments and a memorial morning service as officials weigh holiday status in New Jersey and New York.

Westfield Voters to Attend Dual Candidate Meetings

Two meetings of interest to voters in Westfield feature Democratic and Republican candidates on one platform at Town Hall. Annual Meeting of Children’s Home Elects Directors

The Children’s Country Home held its thirtieth annual meeting at the Presbyterian Parish House. Directors for the coming year were elected, and treasurer Mrs. H. L. Kriftin reported receipts of 8439.63 and expenditures of 6889.93 with a 1649.60 balance. Contributions totaled 8008.58 plus 512.35 from the Westfield Masonic Club. Endowment 18189.68, Presbyterian 694.19, Special Reserve 3280.97.
