Pierson Presents Medals in Public Speaking Event

Medals awarded to winners at a Weetfield High School public speaking contest held before a capacity audience. Seth Wheeler of Roselle won first prize for The Minister's Black Nance. James T Millet Honored War Veteran With Local Roles

James T Millet served to the end of the Civil War and was honorably discharged. He belongs to the Winfield Scott Post G A R and is senior vice commander. His father was a Mexican War surgeon and the family stayed in Mexico for several years. Millet speaks Spanish fluently and has lived in Westfield for 18 years. He runs a real estate business and has held three terms as Justice of the Peace and Commissioner of Deeds.

James W. Fink Civil War Veteran of Westfield

James W. Fink enlisted in 1864 as a three year volunteer in Company K of the 8th Pennsylvania Cavalry. He saw fifteen engagements and was honorably discharged at Richmond on August 11 1865. He has long lived in Westfield and now serves as inspector of roads for Union County.

Edward E Townley enlisted January 27 1865 in Company E 40th Regiment New Jersey Volunteers and served to war end with eight engagements including Petersburg siege. He was honorably discharged July 20 1865. He belonged to Winfield Scott Post G A R.
