A strenuous license election in Westfield produced a 151 vote margin for the wets. Total turnout was 1 471 with broad town campaigning and early voting, though the Second Ward First District supported the dry side 16 to 1.
Roselle and Roselle Park held local option elections today with victories reported in both towns. Officials expect possible changes when the soldier vote arrives. A Westfield girl Virginia donated 104 pennies and a nickel to the Red Cross, prompting a framed tribute featuring her gift.
A Westfield High initiative gears up as a parade featuring local heroes and veterans is planned for a community carnival at the Children’s Home grounds. Organizers invite participation from students, staff, and residents to honor veterans and raise funds for home programs.
