Central to Have Tunnel to New York
The Central Railroad of New Jersey reportedly buys property in the Lafayette district of Jersey City to enable tunnels under the Hudson. Successful Opening of Base Ball Season at Recreation Park
The 1912 season opened Saturday at Recreation Park with ideal weather and a festive crowd. Mayor Dennis, Commissioner O Connell, and Edward Flynn presented the ball to the pitcher before a 2 45 start and a quick strike called by the umpire. Park View A C of Newark offered stout opposition but the locals prevailed as Prof Dushanek’s Band played. Over 600 attendees, including town officials, clergy, ladies, and about 100 Newark fans, filled the grandstand. Roosevelt’s afternoon appearance shifted start times to 4 o'clock next Saturday.
