Education Board Hears Bids For New Recreation Park School

Board of Education held a large meeting at the High School auditorium to review bids for the Recreation Park School on West Ferd avenue. Four low bids for general construction ranged from 146 500 to 162 750, with other bids for heating ventilation plumbing and electrical work. Architect White of Wilder and White will report next Friday on the bids as officials consider cost savings and project timing.

Choral Art Club Concert Promises Notable Soloists

Tenor Mr Chas Harrison will be a soloist with the Choral Art Club in an upcoming concert. He recently appeared at Aeolian Hall with Mina Budelius of the Metropolitan Opera Gai in a program of American songs. Master Rubi Davis, a rising violinist, has been engaged for this season after early success with the club last year. Tickets are available at Frutchey Pharmacy and Casey's Drug Store.

Russian tenor delights audience with First Methodist concert

Sergei Adamaky, a young Ruselat tenor, with American pianist Edna Sheppard, performed at the First Methodist Church under Men's Brotherhood auspices. The program featured folk songs and opera selections. Sheppard accompanied and played piano solos. Brotherhood officers were announced for election April 12, with James Burroughs to entertain as ventriloquist and magician.

Flonza Ley Quartet to Play at Weatfield High School

The Flontalay Quartet and Merle Alcock perform at Weatfield High School auditorium on Thursday evening March 17. Two Westfield men were sentenced for murder by the Supreme Court. James McCormack, a former Westfield police officer, received 12 to 80 years for second degree murder in the Garwood hotel case, while Hyder Johnson drew 4 to 30 years for a Christmas Eve death in a craps game dispute.
