TWO QUICK ARRESTS IN ROUNL UP HOLD UP MAN

Bayonne police reported quick arrests after a hold up in which Clarence was captured at 8 30 pm. A man named Runyon was arrested at 4 10 pm and delivered to Bayonne authorities. Officers also brought in Booth and Dickerson on separate assault and family complaint charges.

Fourth Ward Tax Payers Elect Officers at McKinley School

The Fourth Ward Tax Payers Association held its annual meeting and election of officers. New officers are E. D. Clark president, T. Catto vice president, T. O. Young second vice president, W. F. Watts secretary, L. H. Phelps treasurer. The group discussed lighting on First street and backed a Fourth of July celebration plan, tasking L. H. Phelps and T. Young to confer with officials.

Auto Crash Injures Four Near Boynton Home

Four Newark passengers were injured when a car skidded on Springfield Road and struck a telephone pole in front of George Boynton’s residence. Edith Pasowosky was hospitalized at Overlook in Summit in serious condition from a scalp wound. others had minor bruises. Witnesses said the driver lost control and a passing motorist helped stop the car. Doctors Harrison Decker Sinclair and Morrison treated the injured at Boynton’s home.

Census Enumerators Begin Work Across Town

Local census takers started their rounds last week with strong progress. They encountered a few delays such as a family departing for the seashore and a domestic moving, but overall each household was counted. An Italian block faced questions about draft fears. after explanations, residents answered. Enumerators expect to complete work by July.

Flag Day Observance Marks 138th Anniversary

Flag Day on Monday June 14 marks the 138th anniversary of the national emblem. The American Flag Association urges citizens to display the flag at homes and businesses as schools and patriotic societies nationwide recognize the day. The flag adopted June 14 1777 had 13 stars and 13 stripes. provisions in 1818 added states and stars now total 48.

Anniversary of Royal Arcanum and Old Glory Display

Thousands of members of the Royal Arcanum slated to celebrate the order's thirty eighth anniversary on June 8 by displaying stars and stripes from their homes. The celebration marks the birth of Old Glory and the Royal Arcanum in June, exactly a hundred years apart, highlighting patriotic membership.
