Gypsy Smith to Return for WV Westfield Meetings

Gypsy Smith Jr the renowned evangelist plans a return visit to Westfield for a series of services. He opened a host series at Calvary Baptist Church New York last night and will continue there until March 10. He will speak at Westfield Methodist Church Saturday March 2 and again that evening to the local audience.

Arrangements Underway for Union Service With Smith Choir

Plans are in place to gather a large number of the gypsy Smith Choir for a union service. E F Black ord leads the ushers, with pastors from four cooperating churches to participate and rejoins with the people. Westfield host Mr and Mrs Blackford on Edgewood avenue as Smith is hoped to preach Sunday morning.

The Westfield Fire Department holds its tenth annual ball in the Westfield Theatre Hall tomorrow evening. Mayors and town council members join as special guests with guests from nearby towns. music is arranged and the committee aims for a top event.

Washington's Birthday Observances By Local Schools

Schools will observe Washington's Birthday with exercises in all buildings tomorrow afternoon. No school Friday. Islington and Grant pupils attended an evening session as part of Visit the Schools Week with parents present. A debate on Universal Military Training is set for March 15 at the High School Auditorium.

Kitchen Band Concert Saturday at First M E Church

The Kitchen Band of 28 Westfield women led by Mrs S D French performs 10 to 12 numbers with 28 instruments, some from Paris Ky, in the First M E Church Sunday School chapel on Saturday at 8 p m. Proceeds aid two Oriental children in California.

De Luxe Trio and Jack Armour Delight Westfield Lodge

The De Luxe Trio and Jack Armour provided top entertainment at a Westfield Lodge gathering. The trio performed songs and stories while Rule extracted notable piano feats, and Armour offered wartime inspired dialect stories. A pre-event business meeting introduced a slate for the lodge’s annual Friday morning session.

Insured in Trolley Crash Near Old Meeker Inn

Mr and Mrs J H Willett of North pvente were passengers on a Morris County Traction Company trolley. A head on collision occurred yesterday afternoon near the Old Meeker Inn. Mr Willett escaped with a shake up while Mrs Willett suffered slight bruises but could go home. Both motormen were badly injured and one was not expected to live.

Westfield to See State Militia Reserve Parade on Friday

Westfield residents will view the State Militia Reserve Company parade Friday morning on Washington's Birthday. The unit, assembling at Town Hall at 10, will march without arms to showcase drill and recruit new members amid ongoing license renewals and protests at the council meeting.
