Licenses Granted After Local Liquor Debate

At a Monday council meeting objections to renewing town liquor licenses were heard from church groups and residents. The vote granted licenses to J. H. Willet Worth Avenue Hotel, J. Sehlenger wholesale, W. W. Mooney retail, J. J. Schmitt retail, and T. Bordhering retail, with objections noted from several residents but not a majority of property owners.

Moving Pictures in Religious Service

An audience from Congregational and Baptist churches and others filled the Westfield Theatre for Rev. Samuel Lane Loomis first illustrated sermon series during Lent. The talk traced Christ life with screen interludes and moving pictures of the Magdalene and conversion, ending with Abide With Me. The second program will be led by Rev. C J Greenwood with use of the same venue, offered free of charge. early arrival urged as attendance is expected to exceed capacity.

Adirondacks Lecture by Alfred Hitchcock Promises Rich Views

The Board of Education presents Alfred L Hitchcock in a winter lecture on the Adirondacks at Washington School. He will show stereoscopic views of lakes and mountains, describe historic events, Saranac Lake cures, and winter sports including skating and tobogganing. Tickets available at the Leader office.

Advance Club Meeting Announcement on Euclid Avenue

The Advance club holds its regular monthly meeting Friday evening at the home of Thomas Hutchinson on Euclid Avenue. Dr J J Saints will read a paper on Union County Flora and Fauna and Mrs Charles MacBougal will present Current Events. A musical program will follow.

The Parent-Teachers Association of McKinley school will hold its regular monthly meeting in the McKinley building tomorrow afternoon. After the regular business session an entertainment program will be given.
