At the town council meeting Councilman Oswald offered a resolution to permit a hotel to sell liquor after 11 30 p m for a banquet on February 31. Mayor Dennis questioned the council’s power and Attorney Oliver agreed the council could not suspend its own excise ordinance. The resolution was withdrawn. A town official later said the council overstepped but would not shield the hotel from liability for violating the ordinance.
