Civic Association and Rotary discussed replacing a granite memorial shaft with a clock tower and chimes in Mindolin Park. The project drew mixed reaction. supporters highlighted the clock’s civic value while opponents cited cost and prior plans.
Next Monday the Leader Almanac will be ready for distribution. This is the twelfth consecutive year of publication and contains information about the town and its churches and societies. Building Inspector Frank Moffett receives a permit to alter the torn building on North avenues. Improvements costing 6000 dollars will be made. The front will be entirely changed and adjacent structures including the garage will be altered.
Residents question a proposed chime tower at the Island in Park Lake as a World War memorial. They warn chiming noises disrupt quiet for sick or nervous residents and commuters, urging a quieter alternative to honor fallen soldiers. The Westfield committee previously favored a granite shaft memorial.
A young blizzard threat in Westfield prompted swift action by Park Commissioners led by R. T. Whitcomb and street committee head George Miller. Plows and shovels cleared roads and walks, making Sunday travel passable and preventing shutdowns.

The group discussed the new parish house fund drive, noting over 30,000 dollars pledged.
