Burglary Attempt on Summit Avenue Ends in Pursuit

Sunday evening an intruder entered the Warne home on Summit Avenue while the family slept. Mr Warne woke to a man who fired a shot and fled through an open yard. Police say an arrest is expected soon as they pursue the suspect.

Newark Arraignments Levy Fines in Local Case

Last evening two men faced arraignment before Judge Heck on charges of illegal sales and driving without a license. One man, Ming goods without a license, was fined 20 dollars after claiming he took orders. Hewitt presented a permit but faced a 25 dollar fine for driving without a licensed driver.

Westfield Rinas Club Hosts 200 Wic Children

Two hundred children from Wic were guests of the Rinas Club of Westfield at the Eld Theatre on Saturday morning. Santa Claus arrived at 3 10 o'clock, distributed gifts and stock, and helpers presented baseballs and bats. After gifts, the youngsters enjoyed five reels of moving pictures. The committee included Mrs Egel as chairman and many local ladies.

Musical program pleases Westfield Womans Club audience

The Westfield Womans Club hosted a public home meeting on December 27 with a varied program of instrumental and vocal numbers. Principal Linn Now a Benedict

Cheridan Linn, principal of the Weatfield High School, and Minas Frances Klein of Shenandoah Pa, were married Monday evening at the bride's parents home. After a short trip they will reside in West Walnut Street. Klein, a Millersville State Normal graduate, studied at Columbia University and taught music in Westchester Pa. Linn, Lafayette College 1911 alumnus, taught English at Lafayette and later led the Westfield High School.

Busy Christmas Week at Westfield Post Office

Westfield residents praised the post office as Christmas mail volume surged with over 125 more sacks than the previous year. Postmaster DeCamp and staff worked overtime to sort parcels and letters, delivering by 11 a.m. and even returning Sunday to finish.

Christmas Day Closet Fire at Edgewood Avenue Home

A small medical closet fire in the bathroom of Mr. and Mrs. H. Gordon on Edgewood Avenue caused neighborhood excitement on Saturday around 2 PM. The blaze reached the chimney and roof before neighbors and friends quelled it. the loss is estimated at about $100.
