Westfield Branch Elects Officers Amid Active Year
The Westfield Branch of the Union Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals held its annual meeting last evening in the Town Hall. Officers were elected with Minnie Beck as secretary. reports showed 244 in attendance over eleven meetings, receipts $5.50, disbursements $77.60, and a balance of $88.15. Mrs Washburn reported five cases prosecuted, one jail sentence, four suspended. nine cases of cruelty involved 137 animals helped in various ways. President Perkins praised founder J. D. Bennett and thanked the Mayor, Chief Rogecrans, the Town Council, and the press. a drinking fountain project for J. D. Bennett was discussed with prices and committee continued. Mrs. Washburn added abuse and park-related cases. Twenty members attended.

Police seize punch boards and prizes in town raid
Yesterday Chief Rosecrane Sergeant Nelson and Officers Beck Deter and Wright inspected shops with punch boards, collecting boards and prizes. A large haul of jewelry watches pipes candy and more is held at the police station as investigators probe the gambling rings amid county efforts to stamp out the activity.
