Story Hour Draws Crowd at Library

The final tale hour of the year attracted about seventy five listeners including many adults Mrs Watts presented European fairy tales and German and Danish stories The library plans an exhibit of English History picture bulletins from Pratt Institute and will use them to relate stories to children Librarian notes strong circulation and ongoing displays of magazines and travel features with a busy young readers program and rising attendance

Miss Bailie Recital At Hutchinson Home On Euclid

About 160 guests attended a recital by Miss William M Bailie at Thomas Hutchinson's Euclid avenue residence. Pupils Katherine Margaret and Dorothy Dietz Emma Lambert Elizabeth Timberlake performed with Geraldine Merk Mary Lansing and Cora Guild assisting. The program included works by Mendelssohn Weber Behr Chopin and Haydn and a new Knabe piano was showcased.

Public Library Report Praises Support And Cooperation

Fire Did Not Daunt Plios Second Performance in Cranford

The PHO Club plans a second performance of The Morning After in Cranford Opera House after a fire disrupted the first night. Rehearsals at Mr Swen’s home boosted confidence, new scenery is ready, and tickets are selling fast with box-office refunds offered for travel.

Patriotic Sermon At Baptist Church

Rev. C. J. Greenwood of the First Baptist Church preached a patriotic sermon to members of the Junior Order American Mechanic a Daughters of Liberty and Daughters of America. He urged Americanization and cited immigration concerns, praising the flag and public school Bible reading while noting risks from foreign influence. Music by the Sunday School Orchestra and a solo by Miss Hutchinson followed.

P T A Social Committee Appointed at Meeting

At the P T A gathering last Thursday Mrs. George H Gabler named social committee members including Mrs. Charles Cox Mrs F K Winter Mrs Watts Mrs Raymond Garcia and Mrs C C Gambrel The group will alternate between afternoon and evening meetings The next session is set for the afternoon of January 18 with the following meeting in the evening A large turnout attended the session.

Firemen Thanked for Saving Baptist Parsonage

Pastor C J Greenwood of the First Baptist Church praises Chief Decker and the fire department for saving the Baptist parsonage from flames. He credits the new auto fire engine and the council's wisdom in acquiring it with preventing a larger disaster beyond the Casino fire.
