The Public Service Railway prepares to roll out a Zone System from September 14 on all lines. A mile post will be painted white, and fares will be three cents for the first mile and two cents for each additional mile or fraction.

Aubrey Ge Russell of Highland Avenue and Mrs H L Russell is awarded the Italian Cross for brilliant bombardments by day and night with the Royal Italian Air Force. The decoration dated October 10 1918 cites actions over the Trenting sector and lower Piave Valley during the Italian offensive. Russell, discharged January 1918, held the rank of First Lieutenant, Air Service, U.S.
Louis Goldstein, a local baseball fan, was seriously injured at the Polo Grounds when a runway collapsed during a game. He fell from the upper grandstand to the lower section with twenty five others, fracturing his hips.
Members of the Westfield Club will enjoy a chicken dinner and clambake on Sunday September 7. The outing is at the DeCamp Farm in Cheater Morris County and will be reached by automobile. State organizer Reis will attend with party leaders to finalize arrangements for the campaign and announce plans for county committees and volunteers. Governor candidate Merk M. Dintenfass is expected to attend along with organizer Reis to rally support for the high cost of living issue.
The Aluminum Castings Company of America will take possession of the former C. and C. Electric and Manufacturing plant at Garwood. The new concern will employ about 1,000 men and manufactures castings for automobiles and other machinery. The company is headquartered in Detroit and operates foundries in the East and West.
The St Pauls church Men s Club unveils a thirty member glee club led by Guy Harry and plans several ladies nights, hand tennis tournaments, and the annual club dinner. New membership applications will be acted upon at the September 18 meeting with committees led by Pencheon Griffiths Orr Dell and Harry across dinner membership commutation hand tennis music and entertainment.
