Fi Club Starts Westfield Branch to Promote Candidate

A Westfield meeting at Iwn Hall formed the Hughes and Pierson Club of Westfield to back assemblyman A. N. Pierson. Dr. O. M. F. and F. A. White led as presidents with G. W. Peek and W. Wittke as officers. The group adopted officers, announced future committees, endorsed Hughes and Pierson, and secured a campaign room in the Post Office for club use.

Westfield Plumber Charged in Robberies Held on Bail

Charles A Klein alias Charles A Klein was arrested by Chief Rosecrans and arraigned before Recorder Springstead on a $1,500 bond after a hearing related to Westfield plumbing robberies. He faced a further $2,500 bail on a motor-law charge. The case links to use of a Ford with a Metz car chamber. Nearby, Ralph L Braun, five, of Harrison Avenue, quarantined for infantile paralysis, with local health officials taking strict precautions.

Camp Fire Girls Aid Sea Breeze Fresh Air Work

The Kanashagala Camp Fire Girls of Westfield promote Sea Breeze spending aid for tenement children in New York City. They publish appeals, ask local support, and note Sea Breeze on Coney Island with costly outings at 60 cents daily. Education and health officials oversee the program amid an infantile paralysis emergency. At Park Street and the Boulevard a collision injures no one, while a separate court case adjourns for August 28 with bail set at $200.

Noted Missionary to Preach Here at First Presbyterian

The Rev. Robert M. Labaree, a missionary from Uruhlah Persia, will preach next Sunday at the First Presbyterian church. Labaree has spent many years in the mission field and is described as an interesting and forceful speaker. He previously filled the pulpit at Westfield church last year to the delight of many parishioners.

Enjoyable Euchre Party Honors Local Residents

A euchre party at Charles Gottlick's Prospect street home last night awarded prizes to Albert Hann for a hand painted vase, Mrs. Albert Clark for a scarf, Mrs. Winn Winkler for a scarf, James McCue for pair pigeons, and others including J. Cavanaugh, B. Feeley, Mrs. Arthur Clark, A Marenghi, Mrs. J Ryan, Mrs. Daniel Boyle, and Miss Nellie English. About one hundred guests attended with Father Watterson and Father Rigney present. after refreshments, entertainment and dancing followed.

Colored Club Organized in Westfield Town Hall

The Westfield Colored Republican Club reorganized at the Town Hall and passed a resolution to back Hughes and Fairbanks. Officers named include President P. W. Rous, Vice-president Leroy Lloyd, Secretary Hutson Oberley, Treasurer Wilton Tobinson, and Executive Committee PB W. Ross, Leroy Lloyd, Hutson Oberley. Monthly meetings set for every first and third Tuesday. About twenty five present with expected growth to over a hundred members soon.

The Fourth Ward Democrats met last evening at James Purdy's Cumberland Street home to discuss candidates for councilman and county and local committees. About twenty men attended the gathering.

Man cited twice in Springfield court for fast motorcycle riding

Benjamin Curray of West Broad Street was fined six dollars in Recorder Springfield's court for speeding on a motorcycle. He faced another charge of speeding with an open muffler. a sentence to repair the muffler and ride slowly was suspended.

The Westfield Rifle Club, about fifty members, heard committee reports on funds uniforms and range work. Captain Thomas urged continued practice and noted the meeting was presided by him.

W H Weldon of Rahway a prominent road builder and contractor celebrated his 74th birthday Saturday. He supervises crews on county and municipal contracts and dined daily at the North Avenue Hotel. Saturday evening his son W H Weldon Jr hosted a large birthday dinner at St Marks avenue with a 74 candle cake and many well wishers.

New Health Code Enforced by State Board of Health in Westfield

The State Board of Health issues a complete health code to be strictly enforced in Westfield. Residents must obtain a certificate from a family physician before presenting it to the local Board of Health. Certificates are issued only at the Town Hall during specific hours on weekdays Sundays.
