Westfield First M. E. Church Names Baldwin Pastor

Bishop Luther B. Wilson appoints the Rev. George Franklin Ream of Baldwin to lead the Westfield First M. E. Church. Ream, about 42, will start around June 1 after finishing duties at Baker University. Congregation voices strong approval and enthusiasm after the announcement.

Westfield First Church appoints George Ream as pastor

Bishop Luther B Wilson announces George Franklin Ream will lead Westfield First Methodist Church beginning about June 1. Ream, Baker University faculty member and Cornell College graduate, comes from Iowa and has studied in Glasgow Scotland. His wife, a Gander College alumna, is from New Jersey, and Rev Dr Hayford’s pastorate in Madison N J is cited as a nearby connection. Former pastor Rev Nelson served circa 1850 as noted.

Westfield Woman's Club elects new officers 1912 13 season

The final meeting of the Woman's Club in Westfield New Jersey elected 30 new members including active and associate categories. Officers for the State Federation were named with Grace Card Smith as President and a pianist gave a notable program. The club adjourned after a tea. The Westfield Public Library board decided to open the reading room on Sundays for reference use from 2 to 6 pm with staff on hand but no book exchanges.

Woman Suffrage Debate At Weatfield Congregational

A May 9 debate on woman suffrage at the Weatfield Congregational church will feature speakers for and against equal voting rights. The event is hosted by the Congregational Men's Club and invites all interested.

Women’s Advisory Board Protests School Playhouse Move

The Woman's Advisory Committee to the Board of Education asked the board to allow the senior class to hold clea day exercises in the Playhouse instead of Washington school auditorium. Funds to cover Playhouse rental were available without taxing students. The board agreed to grant consent after hearing the committee's case.

Storm Affects Attendance At Sunday Religious Movies

In poor weather Fiagel's Theatre saw a large crowd at the Sunday evening service led by Rev. C. J. Greenwood. Dr. S. L. Loomis gave an illustrated talk on "The Man He Might Have Been" amid strong moral appeals to youth. Next week Rev. O. J. Greenwood will discuss "Fire Gerae."
