Greek driver dies after self inflicted wound in Cranford
Frank Philip a 25 year old Greek driver for Cranford Gas Company attempted suicide Friday night by slashing his throat at 630 North Avenue where he boarded. He died hours later at Muhlenberg Hospital after being taken there by ambulance. The tragedy shocked neighbors and a large Martin Wallberg Post American Legion funeral honor guard attended his burial in the Legion Plot at Fairview.

Local man committed to Morris Piaina asylum
Hana Linden age 45 of 227 Elmer street was employed at Irving's codl yard central avenue and had acted strangely for game time. Doctors Savage and Kinch ordered his commitment to Morris Piaina asylum after examination yesterday. He was taken to the institution later that day and placed in custody Saturday by Officer Miller.

Westfield Town Council Approves New Auto Engine
At a regular meeting the Westfield Town Council ordered purchase of a new fire engine capable of pumping 1,000 gallons per minute.
