Legend of the Witch Trot cabin tale near Dover New York
An 1883-era narrative recalls Silas Herd and family living near Witch Trot now Silas Herod in a Dover New York clearing. A grandmother warns of savage danger as a door is battered, shots ring out, and Silas bursts in saving Susan and children. A bird’s blood on a frock confirms a dire omen and a deadly night resolves with survivors.
