Execution of a Confederate Deserter Near Fredericksburg

Raleigh Standard correspondent reports the February 28 execution of William A Youlin, private, Company 338th North Carolina Regiment, for desertion and seducing others. Major David Raig of Camden county Ga. killed a hog last week described as five years old and raised in the woods. The animal weighed 1159 pounds gross with a 6.5 foot circumference. After drying the leaf lard weighed 147 pounds, marking the hog as valuable.

New York Major Paroled After Pillage Case In Richmond
