Tobacco stems as fertilizer divide Connecticut valley opinion
The Western Tobacco Journal notes varied views on using tobacco stems as fertilizer for cigar leaf and gear leaf. Some warn stems harm burning qualities, others tout stems as cheap, especially when mixed with barnyard manure and lime. Observers cite regional experiences and season conditions affecting plantings and growth.
