An Air of Esthetic and Illusions at Miss Bumpus Farm
Helena Warburton recalls a summer visit to Miss Polly Bumpus near Edgewood with Walter Haight and Clorinda. Kathleen Lossing arrives with ostentatious taste, prompting humorous clashes over books, flowers, and social pretensions. Walter objects to silliness while Miss Bumpus asserts control, leading to a plan to return home after a playful yet telling encounter.
