Fresh lard at Baker's and new ad from Trego Mercantile Co. A cement shortage noted. Local visits include Mr. and Mrs. Stuart Shorthill in Topeka and J. A. McCall kindly sending peaches. Church socials and lodge meetings, school start, and various property and business updates fill this week.
Big Creek farmers are busy seeding while early wheat looks good after rains. Local folks report purchases including drills and buggies, cattle sales, and seed wheat hauled from Ellis. Several families note illnesses and new births, with community trade at Blue Front and other outlets.
Reports from the region include B research taking Bine Front drills home last week. Mrs. Alva Cutter suffered a badly crushed finger in a washing machine incident. Henry Cutler of Ogallah sold three fine young mules to Brown and Eppler. Mrs. W. F. Cross and daughter Lillian attended a teachers meeting in Wa-Keeney last Saturday. Mr. Piuspots completed a plowing contract near Bilis and moved his outfit near Ogallah.
Ogallah area activity includes Musgrave Bros shipping cattle last Sunday and Canyon City cox for sale at Ross and Waldo's. Residents H. F. Kilne, Fred Musgrave, and HM H. Thornton appear in local notes alongside plans for a bachelor club, a new blacksmith shop, and plowing work west of Wa-Keeney.
Wheat looks fine as school starts Monday. Mrs. James Yewell hosted Miss Ida Courtney on Wednesday. Monroe Stirhits and family from Zurich Kansas visited Sunday. Mayme and Myrna Biebler visited Edna and Pearl Hall Sunday. Mrs Sletler and Lie Gauge ters Edna and Thelma visit Quinter Grainfield this week. Joe Snyder hosted a pleasant party Wednesday evening with games, ice cream, and cake. all reported a jolly time.
Dick Owen plows with two drills while others drill wheat. avoid farming on the north half of 8-12-24. Visits include Misses Anna and Qosy Thiel, Stephen Krhut and wife at his father's, and Joe Zeman hauling wheat to the Voda elevator. Several locals, including Banta Bros and Kristoff family, buy drills and wheels. neighbors spend Sunday with friends. Collyer visitors and a Hardman Elevator shipment noted.
A Prohibition convention in Wa-Keeney Trego County nominated a ticket including Representative Frank Curtis County Clerk Eric Bindberg Treasurer Wim L Clawson Register of Deeds Theodore Courtney and District Court Clerk H B Graves. The Central Committee and delegates were named, with a note on high school trustees and a Star Lecture Course at Gollyer Kansas.
An advertisement calls for completing a stammering course at McKis School for stammerers located at 2705 Eust 2th Street in Kansas City Missouri with a half rate for fall and winter. It invites Attention A O U W Loges and Wa Keeney Lodge No 400 members to be present at Ellis Lodge initiation next Monday October 1st led by Grand Master Workman J H Crider of Fort Scott who will speak on fraternalism.
