Salvation Army Board Meeting and County Advisory Actions
The Salvation Army board in Kansas met with W R Board of Kansas City representing headquarters. The Trego county Advisory Board elected S J Straw as president and set October 17 and 24 for the annual financial appeal with a $250 quota. Wa-Keeney Golf Club’s Inaugural One Night Tournament
Wa Keeney Golf Club members held a social side tournament on Monday evening captains Dr. A. S. Miller and Attorney Herman Long. Nine players competed though G L Hays and J D Glenn were absent. Miller’s team won 296 to 302 and a celebratory dinner followed at the American House.

Residents urged to donate warm clothing and sturdy toys to the relief committee. Bring bundles to the WaKeeney Presbyterian Church Monday afternoon September 25 between 1 and 5 oclock. Packets should be neat, not boxed. large bundles over fifty pounds use burlap. The appeal stresses urgent, prompt action to ship items to Russia and aid those in need. Mr and Mrs W L Caston returned from a state trip and plan to settle on Washington street property recently purchased from Chas Steel.

Marriage of Marie Klein and Patrick Lynch at St Marys
Miss Marie Klein and Mr Patrick A Lynch were married at St Marys Catholic Church in a six thirty morning ceremony officiated by Rev Father McErlean. Miss Ella Henry was bridesmaid and Tom Lynch appeared as best man. The bride, daughter of Nicholas Klein, taught school after Glasco High and is well regarded in the community. The groom, a Yoda Kansas merchant, will reside in Yoda after a wedding trip to Kansas City and other points, returning after October first.

Chicken Thieves Abroad Near WaKeeney Incident
Sunday night a man shot at Otte Wisch near his chicken house 17 miles northeast of WaKeeney. Wisch’s forearm was grazed by a bullet, the assailant fled with a sack of chickens, and Dr. Burnett treated the wound. No suspect identified.

Rabbit misfortune near WaKeeney ends in broken elbow
A farm boy and his dog chased a jack rabbit in a Graham county furrow. The rabbit sprang to escape and struck the boy’s forearm just below the elbow, breaking the joint and killing the rabbit instantly. Dr. Burnett treated the boy, who was expected to recover swiftly.

Salina Commercial Club Sociability Tour Details
A Salina Commercial Club sociability tour visited Hill City WaKeeney Ogallah and Hays this week. Twenty four cars carried fifty business firms and a twenty piece band. Members dined with Baptist church ladies in Salina and spent an hour visiting WaKeeney merchants before continuing the trip and returning Thursday.
