John Martin Ebeling born Nieustadt Germany October 23 1838 died at home near Collyer Kansas May 21 1918 aged about eighty. Served in Civil War from Pekin Illinois 1861 to 1865 first lieutenant. Survived by wife Mary Linde and eight children. Funeral held at Collyer Baptist Church May 1 with G A R color guard. interment Collyer Union Cemetery.

Sunday School Convention Meets in Wa-Keeney
The Trego County Sunday School Association will hold its annual convention at the Wa-Keeney Presbyterian church on June 5 1918. Morning program begins at 10 with devotional led by R C Filson and a discussion on the war and Sunday School led by Rev Powell. An 11 o clock address by State Secretary J H Engle follows with announcements and assignments. Afternoon session to follow.

Grace Latta and Rene Hinshaw were married Saturday night at the home of Mr and Mrs C W Harper in Wa Keeney. The bride, a stenographer at Ross and Waldo, will keep her job. Hinshaw works in Wa Keeney with his father and may soon enter service.

Wood McCall wedding ties Fort Shafter to Kauai and Cali
Lieutenant Fay E. McCall Signal Reserve Corps of Fort Shafter and Miss Marjorie Wood of Honolulu married on Easter Sunday at St Clements Episcopal Church. Rev. Leland Tracy officiated. The couple met in Kauai while teaching in Lihue. They honeymooned briefly then settled in Fort Shafter cotages. McCall, from Kansas, trained at Schofield Barracks before commissioning. Mrs. McCall, a California native, is known in Kauai artistic circles. The Greenwood family held a large reunion in Ness City and Rodgers Arkansas with other relatives. Decoration Day Program and County Sunday School Convention
The town will close shops on Thursday May 30 1918 for a Decoration Day ritual. A 1 PM procession from Courthouse Park to the cemetery honors veterans, then reverts to the Fair Grounds pavilion for a program at 3 PM with music readings and addresses.
