North Texas Oklahoma steers around 7.60. stockers and feeders recovering losses. Hog markets remain hard fought with daily packer price pressure, receipts 13 000 head, market 10 to 15 lower but finishing steady.
Government thermometer at Wa-Keeney records week highs and lows through Wednesday noon. Adair hosts a two hour literary program with school numbers plays and local talent led by Frank Clark and others. May ard church service listed with Holy Communion at 11 am and sermon at 4 pm. The World reiterates county paper status and official news coverage.
Russell-Trego meet held April 24 at Russell race track saw Trego boys win 56 to 37 earning ten of eleven firsts plus two seconds. Albert O'Toole captained with a 24 pennant score, Macy Beason second with 14. O'Toole won 50 yard dash 6 seconds and 100 yard dash 10.4, Beason vault 9 feet 3 inches, Benson-O'Toole high jump 5 feet 2 inches, and relay set 1 42.0. Awarded trophies and records marked.
Trego county farmers and families are invited to a Saturday free matinee in Wa-Keeney. The picture show will feature Treasure Island with hourly showings from 2 PM. Local businessmen and residents including Howard Gordon visiting eastern Kansas and Rol la Clymer from Emporia are noted among assorted town activities.
