Western Kansas World Origins and Post Fire Revival
W S Tilton founded the Western Kansas World in Beatrice Nebraska and later sold. On March 11 1894 the present owner acquired a half interest from Cowick Crooks. subsequent purchase of Crook's share followed. A fire on February 5 1835 destroyed the Worpo, leaving only the office key and $3000 in smoke. $1090 insurance funded a new plant. The paper survived populist turmoil and later heavy subscription gains. six weeks earlier a new press and Foos gasoline engine were installed. The Campbell press prints 4 pages 6 columns at a time. the plant is praised as one of Western Kansas’ best.

Republican County Convention Call Issued for Wa Keeney
The Republican county Central committee met at the court house last Saturday and issued a call for a county convention to be held in Wa Keeney on March 31, 1908 at 2 p.m. to elect delegates to the state convention in Popete and to choose delegates to the congressional and judicial conventions. Delegates are apportioned by townships with primaries to be held March 4 at 2 p.m., except Ogallah and Collyer where primaries occur in Ogallah. Secretaries and instructions are provided by the committee.
