Pasadena Man Dies After Long Illness In 75th Year

Thomas W. Bundy of Pasadena California died at 10 30 am March 15 1913 in his 75th year after a sickness of more than a year affecting kidneys and lungs He was active until the end with his wife Abbie D Bundy faithful in caregiving Funeral services conducted by Friends at their Meeting House with interment in the Friends Cemetery He is survived by his widow two sisters one brother and a granddaughter with many friends and relatives present at the home and services.

Briggs Case Opens In District Court At Collyer Kansas

On Monday March 19 the regular session of the District court began with the State of Kansas versus Madeline Briggs over the January 26 1918 killing of Mrs Ethel Fisher at Collyer Witnesses including Miss Tilton Elmer Tilton Walter Fisher and doctors testified The blood stained garments and the exhumed bullet were admitted The case opened Wednesday afternoon and lawyers argued before the jury with a noon verdict expected.

Rural School Examinations Set For April Dates

Rural school examinations will be held April 6 and 13 at multiple district sites including Wa Keeney Collyer Ogallah Walker Banner Silver Lake Adair Cyrus Ford Excelsior Gibson Riverside Downer Voda Sunflower. Pupils may attend the most convenient location. The April 6 agenda lists Reading, Arithmetic, Physiology, Civics, Geography.

Rooster Auction Raises Funds For Red Cross

A rural auction led by Mason and Olson raised 185.10 for the local Red Cross fund. Two roosters, including a famed “Mister Rooster,” sold for 100.10 and 85.00 respectively, with proceeds benefiting the Red Cross. A list names dozens of buyers, including M. W. Mason and W. F. Swiggett, as the crowd applauded the charitable event.
