The Republican County Central committee meets in the county surveyor’s office on Saturday March 10 1906 for important business. Also notes on local real estate and arrivals, church and school events, political bylaws, weather, and social activities in Wa Keeney and surrounding areas.
Department Commander P H Covey will attend the next regular meeting on March 10 at 2 pm. Captain W F H Johnson and Captain Bush of Salina will be present to install the post’s newly elected officers. Swest urges full attendance and invites members of the order elsewhere to affiliate with Captain Trego Post for the occasion. David B Henttersen, former speaker, died Sunday in Des Moines, Iowa.
Correspondence notes a cold windy period after Lent began on Wednesday the 23rd. Chickenpox arrives, a horse sale by Bob Levine, and social activity at the Palace hotel. Earl Cross builds a new house, Kessler trustee oversees prairie dog control, and Chas Glenn becomes a full liveryman.
Weather holds fair as Kristol brothers sow oats and Stephen Krhut aids his brother Philip plowing for oats. Mrs. R Owen on sick list, Grace and Kate Cummings visiting Plainville. W D Sustin and wife visited Q Thiels at Cullyer. Fr Owen and family attend church at Wi Kveney. Hockings arrives from Neuaha county buys Wolf place east of Voda. Lost and suspected abducted youths near Ogallah. 14 years old, branded with shotgun mark. Elmer Banta arrives with two brothers, mother and sister in tow to Jack Som county, Kas, unloading two.
