Gasoline Kills Dandelions by Root Destruction
Prof S J Hunter of the University of Lawrence cites a method to clear lawns of dandelions by pouring a small amount of gasoline on the crown, causing the plant to curl and die down to its deep roots. The gasoline method, applied directly to each plant, kills the weed entirely without soil disturbance, requiring about three gallons for a 100 square foot section on his lawn this season.
