An old pest control method describes broadcasting a bran mash mixed with Paris green or white arsenic syrup and citrus juice. The damp bait, spread to cover several acres, attracts grasshoppers and delays death by two to four days, with birds and livestock kept from contaminated portions. Little pigs and poultry may help reduce grasshoppers when used carefully.

Hog market unchanged from yesterday, packers bidding up to 7.65, top 7.47, rough hogs to 7.25. Early sales steady to 5 lower, late 10 to 15 lower. Packers hold large provisions stocks amid weak international trade. Sheep and lambs slightly lower, receipts 5000. Arizona lambs 7.60 to 7.55, yearlings 6.25, feeding lambs 7.25, Arizona ewes 5.40, native ewes 6.15. Ewes priced out of line due to scarcity.
