A rope tied to the calf and Gibson’s boot led to a topple into Crooked Creek mud as the calf dragged its keeper toward the bank. Both wrestled, then the calf escaped, leaving Gibson stuck in the ooze while the calf stood by.

Dobson Hill Climb Ends In Ties At Kansas City

In Kansas City the Dobson Hill Climb saw a last moment Ford entry by C. Meade. A model T tied the Apperson Jack Rabbit for first place in the Free for all with one minute four fifth seconds. Other entrants included a Jackson 36 hp and a Great Smith 45 hp. In Event No 1 the Ford easily beat Krit in slow time of 1 06 1 5. Invention Put to Practical Test by Local Farmer

Thomas McCall, a graduate of State Agricultural College Manhattan, tested a six by eight foot bay and grain stacker at J. B. McCall farm east of town. The device attaches to the stacker and doubles as a hay fork, allowing stacking and threshing with three workers. McCall, a Trego county Jeune, demonstrates a practical solution to harvest labor shortages and merits regional pride.
