Chautauqua plans gain local business backing

Wakeeney area residents learn of a six day Chautauqua course starting July 30 with two entertainments daily. Local business leaders pledge support, urging community attendance. Highlights include The Five Violin Girls, Dr. William Rader on Patriotism, and a New York cast performance, plus music by Bobumir Kryl's Band. Season tickets $2.50 adults $1.25 children. events at courthouse lawn and local schools.

Drilling Progress Resumes At Collyer Oil Well

Reports say legal entanglements have been resolved and drilling at the Collyer oil well is back under way with four men on site around the clock. The project is owned by Wm. McKnab of Winfield, who is also drilling four Oklahoma wells. He rebuilt the derrick, added casing, and aims to complete rapidly, with no leases for sale currently. Local acreage owners may benefit from his investments if the well prospers. Also noted: butter market strengthens with creamery extras up a cent, eggs steady, poultry demand firm.

Baptist Church Notes July 17 service on youth behavior

The Baptist church invites all to Sunday services July 17 at 8:00 p.m. with sermon topic Are the Young People Worse than they used to be led by Pastor H. A. McHenry. Cattle cattle hogs and market notes amid big advance

Urgent demand for fat cattle appears again with prices unevenly higher than Monday and last week. Top $9.50 paid for yearlings as beef cattle rise 35 to 50 cents, grass fat up 40 to 75 cents. Hogs weak to 10 cents lower as trade remains active. Sheep steady to higher. lambs around $9.50 to $9.85. Receipts total about 6 000 cattle 9 500 hogs 10 000 sheep.

Brown Drilling Co After Leases In Graham County

Prospect hints at oil drilling soon in Graham County as John Leslie and Sam Klugman of Oklahoma City secure leases on over 5000 acres along the Ssline river north and east of town for Brown Driling Co. The firm plans to bring in a drilling outfit after securing additional leases, with Western Trail gasoline and kerosene listed by O L Gunekel.
