Death to Rabbits From Monument Hailstorm
A hail storm south and west of Monument on June 24 produced the largest hail in the county. Crops suffered, and many rabbits perished after being driven from shelter into open prairie by the hail. A farmer found five dead rabbits in a 20 by 20 foot area. A young colt and calf were killed as well.
