Commissioner's Proceedings at Wa Keeney June 1910

Death in automobile crash claims 19 year old Ruby Friend

A Wichita area fatal car accident killed Ruby Friend, 19, as Ralph Pierson of Wa Keeney and Kilby Borah of Grinnell along with Misses Bertrand and Ruby Friend were riding near Campus. Pierson lost steering, the car struck a buck hole and overturned. Ruby Friend died minutes after extraction. Kilby Borah survived with minor scratches. Funeral planned at 1 p.m. from the home.

S W Brundage Carnival to Visit Wa Keeney in July

The issue highlights the S W Brundage Carnival coming to Wa Keeney the week of July 11 with new acts and features. Sunday School Convention at Wa Keeney June 24

The Trego County Sunday School Association held its annual county convention at the Wa Keeney Presbyterian church on Friday June 24 with J H Neisley presiding and delegates from across the county. Devotional services led by Rey Allison and singing by Mrs Neisley opened the day, with much discussion on the adult Bible class movement and reports from J H Neisley and J A Engle about the Washington DC world convention. Officers were elected including J H Neisley president and Eliza Countryman superintendent of Home Department, with a strong corps of workers and all bills paid leaving a small cash balance. Reverends Mumford Harper Allison and Green aided throughout.

Bargains on Gasoline Ovens at Bacon's Hardware

Bargains advertise gas and oil stove ovens with prices from 2.75 to 2.00 and 1.25 respectively at Bacon's hardware in the J R Wilson building. Perfection oil stoves also offered bargain prices. State officials and a Kansas City Star figure linked to Governor Stubbs were in Wa Keeney en route to Hill City where a speech was planned. Also note local rural carrier L D Dean visited Tuesday afternoon.
