A local merchant advertises a cash for goods sale to raise $1000. For spot cash only, the store offers groceries, teas, preserves, canned goods, baking powders, and a wide range of hardware and clothing items at cost. Old customers can buy on prior terms if desired.
The board met at the county clerk's office to organize the new board and transact business. Abe Frakes elected chairman. salaries set for county officials including clerk 900, treasurer 1000, attorney 500, and others. Appointments, contracts, bonds, and the county depository designated as Wa Keeney State Bank for 1900. Board adjourned sine die. Attest J W Puanes County Clerk. A small group of veterans at Captain Trego Post No 18% held a cordial meeting, elected and installed officers, and celebrated with a supper hosted by Mrs Olson. Comrade Escher oversaw the installation, and the post gained a stronger footing with new quarters donated by Olson and others. The gathering included old war songs and a table of refreshments.
